Artigo 1.º

Objecto

1 -O presente Acordo estabelece a base jurídica para o desenvolvimento da cooperação entre ambas as Partes no domínio do turismo.

2 -A cooperação entre as Partes no domínio do turismo será desenvolvida com respeito pelo direito interno das Partes.

Artigo 2.º

Âmbito da cooperação

A cooperação entre as Partes no domínio do turismo será desenvolvida ao nível do intercâmbio de informações, do investimento, da formação profissional, da promoção turística e da participação em organizações internacionais.

Artigo 3.º

Intercâmbio de informações

a)Estatísticas de turismo;

b)Experiências no domínio do desenvolvimento sustentável e da promoção da qualidade;

c)Experiências no domínio do restauro de património artístico e arquitectónico, com vista à sua adaptação e utilização para fins turísticos;

d)Direito interno das Partes no âmbito da actividade turística.

Artigo 4.º

Investimento

As Partes promoverão o intercâmbio de informação sobre oportunidades de investimento e facilitarão o desenvolvimento de parcerias entre os dois países.

Artigo 5.º

Formação profissional

As Partes encorajarão a cooperação no domínio da formação para os sectores da hotelaria e turismo potenciando uma aproximação entre entidades congéneres dos dois países e o desenvolvimento de programas de cooperação no domínio da formação.

Artigo 6.º

Promoção

As Partes procurarão desenvolver a cooperação no domínio da promoção turística como meio de encorajamento do intercâmbio turístico entre os dois países.

Artigo 7.º

Organizações internacionais

As Partes promoverão o intercâmbio de informação e de experiências resultantes das respectivas participações nas organizações internacionais de turismo.

Artigo 8.º

Solução de controvérsias

Qualquer controvérsia sobre a interpretação ou a aplicação do presente Acordo será resolvida através de negociações.

Artigo 9.º

Revisão

1 -O presente Acordo pode ser objecto de revisão a pedido de qualquer das Partes.

2 -As emendas entrarão em vigor nos termos previstos no artigo 11.º do presente Acordo.

Artigo 10.º

Vigência e denúncia

1 -O presente acordo permanecerá em vigor por períodos sucessivos de cinco anos, renováveis automaticamente.

2 -Cada uma das Partes poderá, com uma antecedência mínima de seis meses em relação ao termo do período de cinco anos em curso, denunciar o presente Acordo.

3 -A denúncia deverá ser notificada à outra Parte, por escrito e por via diplomática, deixando o Acordo de produzir efeitos no fim do período de cinco anos em curso.

4 -A denúncia do presente Acordo não afectará a concretização de programas ou projectos que tenham sido formalizados durante a vigência do presente Acordo, salvo se as Partes acordarem o contrário.

Artigo 11.º

Entrada em vigor

1 -The present Agreement establishes the legal framework for the development of cooperation between both Parties in the field of tourism.

2 -The cooperation in the field of tourism will be implemented in accordance with the national legislation of the Parties. Article 2 Cooperation The cooperation in the field of tourism will be developed through the exchange of information, the investment, the professional training, the promotion and the participation in international tourism organizations. Article 3 Exchange of information The Parties shall promote the exchange of information regarding the following areas:

a)Tourism statistics;

b)Experiences in the field of sustainable development and quality promotion;

c)Experiences in the field of rehabilitation of artistic and architectural heritage for tourist purposes;

d)Legislative acts regulating tourism activities. Article 4 Investment The Parties shall promote the exchange of information regarding investment opportunities and facilitate the development of partnership opportunities between their respective countries. Article 5 Professional training The Parties shall encourage the cooperation in the field of tourism and hotel training involving an approach between congenerous bodies of the two countries and the development of cooperation programs in the field of professional training. Article 6 Promotion The Parties shall endeavour to develop the cooperation in the field of tourism promotion in order to encourage tourist exchange between the two countries. Article 7 International organizations The Parties shall promote the exchange of information and experiences resulting of their participation in international tourism organizations. Article 8 Settlement of disputes Any disputes concerning the interpretation or application of this Agreement shall be settled through negotiations. Article 9 Amendments

3 -The termination shall be made by a written notification, through diplomatic channels.

4 -The termination of this Agreement shall not affect the execution of any programmes or projects that have been agreed upon while the present Agreement was in force unless the Parties agree to the otherwise. Article 11 Entry into force This Agreement shall enter into force 30 days after the date of reception of the second notification, by a written notification and through diplomatic channels, of having met the internal requirements of both Parties necessary to it. Done at Lisbon, on 31 of May of 2005, in two original copies in Portuguese, Arabic and English languages, all texts being equally authentic.
