4 -O presente Acordo está sujeito a aprovação em conformidade com os requisitos constitucionais exigidos pela ordem jurídica de ambas as Partes e entrará em vigor na data da respectiva notificação.
Feito em duplicado, em Bratislava, em 12 de Maio de 1999, nas línguas portuguesa, eslovaca e inglesa. Em caso de interpretação divergente prevalecerá o texto inglês.

AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE PORTUGUESE REPUBLIC AND THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC ON THE COOPERATION IN THE DEFENCE FIELD.
The Portuguese Republic and the Slovak Republic (hereinafter referred as the Parties):
Wishing to establish mutual beneficial contacts, to create a firm basis for building of bilateral relations and exchange of knowledge, information and experience in the area of defence and military cooperation;
Taking into account current political situation and joint efforts of countries to contribute to the strengthening of world peace and security;
Respecting the valid norms of both the internal and international law, provisions of the UN Charter and there from resulting peace documents;
Expressing the interest in the integration of the Slovak Republic into european and transatlantic security structures;
have agreed as follows:
Article 1
Purpose of the Agreement
The purpose of this Agreement is to provide the cooperation between the Parties in the defence and military fields within the limits of their competencies stipulated by their national legislation.
