O presente Acordo vigorará por um período de 5 anos. Continuará, depois disso, automaticamente em vigor, até ser denunciado por qualquer Parte Contratante mediante aviso prévio escrito de seis meses à outra Parte.
Em caso de denúncia por uma das Partes Contratantes, a situação de que gozam os vários beneficiários manter-se-á até ao fim do ano em curso e, no que se refere aos titulares de bolsas para licenciados e académicos, até ao fim das respectivas bolsas.
Em fé do que, os abaixo assinados, estando devidamente autorizados para isso pelos seus Governos respectivos, assinaram o presente Acordo.
Feito em duplicado, em Lisboa, no dia 1 de Abril do ano de 1985 da Era Cristã, correspondente ao ano de 2528 da Era Budista, nas línguas portuguesa, tailandesa e inglesa, sendo todos os textos igualmente autênticos. Em caso de interpretações divergentes prevalecerá o texto em língua inglesa.

Cultural Agreement between the Government of the Portuguese Republic and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand
The Government of the Portuguese Republic and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand,
Desiring to further strengthen relations between their peoples in the field of culture; including science and education,
Convinced that co-operation and exchanges in this field will foster mutual understanding, friendship and knowledge between their peoples,
have agreed as follows:
ARTICLE 1
The contracting parties shall encourage and promote all such activities that may contribute towards a mutual collaboration in culture, education, science, mass media, sports and youth contact and development.
ARTICLE 2
Each contracting party shall encourage and promote to the best of its ability co-operation in all its forms for the study of the history, culture and language of the other contracting party.
ARTICLE 3
Each contracting party shall consider the possibility of establishing lectureships upon the request of the other contracting party in its universities or educational institutions.
ARTICLE 4
The contracting parties shall encourage and promote:
- a)Collaboration between their universities and higher or specialized educational institutes, cultural and scientific institutes, museums, libraries and archives;
- b)Mutual exchange of teachers, experts and writers who will participate in lectures, study visits and specialised training courses;
- c)Mutual exchange between association representatives or between those of cultural, educational, mass media, youth and sports organisations;
- d)Participation of their representatives in conventions, conferences, symposia, seminars, festivals, exhibitions and other meetings organised by the other contracting party;
- e)Mutual exchange of artists, artistic groups, as well as art exhibitions or any other kind.
ARTICLE 5
The contracting parties shall encourage and promote:
- a)Mutual exchange of documentary materials connected to the fields foreseen in this Agreement, such as books, publications, educational materials, professional brochures, video programmes, documentaries, films, tapes of radio and television programmes, magnetic bands and artistic works which may foster the purposes of this Agreement;
- b)Publication and translation of books and other cultural, educational and scientific written materials of special distinction.
ARTICLE 6
The contracting parties shall consider the possibility of granting to nationals of the other contracting party scholarships and fellowships covering such subjects as may be agreed upon by both sides. Candidates to the scholarships and fellowships shall be proposed by each contracting party and the grantees shall conform to the host country's laws and regulations.
ARTICLE 7
The contracting parties shall co-operate in the exchange of information on standards and developments of their respective educational systems to assist in the interpretation, evaluation of and in eventual granting equivalence to degrees, diplomas and certificates, issued by the other party, for academic purposes and where appropriate for professional purposes.
ARTICLE 8
Each contracting party shall, within its territory, endeavour to prevent illegal traffic in works of artistic and archaeological merit or documents of historical or hereditary value of the other contracting party.
ARTICLE 9
Each contracting party shall take necessary measures to the extent permitted by its resources to ensure the restoration and the maintenance of archives and historical monuments of common interest.
ARTICLE 10
Each contracting party shall, to the extent permitted by its laws and regulations, facilitate the entry and subsequent re-exportation by the other contracting party of materials imported for non-commercial purposes in conformity with the objectives of this Agreement
ARTICLE 11
A joint commission shall be appointed to discuss and assess the implementation of this Agreement. The said commission shall meet, alternately, in Portugal and in Thailand, by agreement of the contracting parties or at the request of one of them.
ARTICLE 12
This Agreement shall enter into force sixty days after each contracting party has informed the other that all formalities stipulated by its constitutions have been complied with.
ARTICLE 13
This Agreement shall remain in force for a period of five years. It shall, thereafter, automatically continue in force until terminated by either contracting party giving six months' prior written notice to the other contracting party.
In case of termination by one of the contracting parties, the status enjoyed by the various beneficiaries shall be maintained until the end of the year in progress and that which refers to scholarship and fellowship holders until the termination of their respective scholarships.
In withness whereof, the undersigned, being duly authorised thereto by their respective Governments, have signed the present Agreement.
Done in duplicate at Lisbon on the first day of April in the one thousand nine hundred and eighty-fifth year of the Christian Era, corresponding to the two thousand five hundred and twenty-eighth year of the Budhist Era in the Portuguese, Thai and English languages, all texts being equally authentic. In case of divergent interpretations, the English text shall prevail.
